“After seven years in the modeling business, I discovered that customers sometimes do not know which model they need to promote a brand,” says Valentina for L`Officiel Baltic. - "But I want to give some tips and advices for girls, who are thinking about model career: even if someone believes that your image does not suit him, do not give up. The ability to pose and knowledge of their best sides distinguish a real model from an ordinary girl. We all have weaknesses, but the real model knows how to hide them.
As a model and judge, Valentina got a very interesting experience. For example, when she worked in Dubai, she was platinum blond and it’s not quite the model type for this market. The market prefers girls with dark hair and heavy makeup. That was shooting for abaya, traditional Arabic dress and the makeup artist got sick. So Valentina had to do a makeup for her, and she did a very basic natural face leaving hair also natural. The photos looked so good, that the client booked model again. That job experience also got for Valentina some new advantages.
Valentina’s favorite market is USA. Here any type of model can work: petit, plus-size, a girl next door, commercial, fashion, strong face etc. The market is huge and it considers modern tendencies, any model can find the right client. Valentina believes that modeling is more about the luckiness - you should be in the right time, with right people and with the right look. What is the right look? You never know.
“For example me, I’m naturally honey blond. I was platinum blond too. Both types worked good for me. So I really encourage you to change your style and don’t be afraid of it. My eye color is changeable too: it’s green when I’m happy and grey-blue at all other times. Also I feel like the model might have something more than a pretty face and a good body behind her. Me for example, I speak English and French, Russian and Belarusian are my native languages. I’m certificated in Google Ad. And this year I run my own bag brand “KOPF”. It’s actually very unusual bags - they look like real people’s heads. And it could be a bag, or it could be the element of interior design too. The designer is my husband Aliaksei Belianka. We had to live at a distance for many years because of my job, I travelled all the time. He used to work as a dentist technician in Belarus. After visiting New York he was so inspired that he started to make unique and very unusual bags, it would be better to say pieces of art. He left the well-paid stable job because of me. New York inspires us every day. We would like to leave the mark in the fashion industry. And I hope my story will inspire someone to act. And I’m open to discuss any issues that you will face in modeling industry”.
