Hussein Chalayan's Spring/Summer 2020 collection is designed for action. The first look seen on the Sadler's Wells catwalk was a cocoon dress in silver and blue floral lamé that completely wrapped the model's face. The second look was a variation on the same silhouette, but with a pleated collar covering up the head. The garments often played with the notions of suspension, with flared dresses and trapezoid trench coats, and with intertwined strings and oversized circles extending the silhouette to the clothes. The Safari looks are a reference to the colonized context of South America and Japan, which was a subject Chalayan looked into while making the collection. Still, the values of the Hussein Chalayan brand remain sophistication and elegance.
