Valentino Shows Exuberance at Paris Fashion Week

The brand presented its Spring / Summer 2020 collection.

Pierpaolo Piccioli dedicated the entire opening of the Valentino parade to white. "I wanted to work on something universal, back to the essence of form and volume," he said backstage. "So, I worked on the idea of the white shirt, but I treated it with a couture sensitivity."

Although Piccioli said there were no deliberate religious or historical references, starched bibs, shirt collars, wavy sleeves, and ruffles reminded of medieval nuns or pages.

In technical terms, Piccioli's goal for spring was to make the large haute couture silhouettes he has established in recent seasons more casual. The designer had removed all the stiffness by making the gowns look very light and flexible, as well as using lovely colours: neon green, absinthe, peach, plum, and more. Once again, Piccioli has shown that he is a master when it comes to colour palettes! See below the complete collection:
