The Pillow Sofa is the latest design by the Belgian design studio Muller Van Severen for KASSL Editons. It is part of the creative collaboration that emerged as part of the Wallpaper* Re-Made project, an initiative that connects creatives and manufacturers in a quest for a smarter and more sustainable environment.
The sofa is inspired by the Pillow Bag from KASSL, the bag that became a fashion must-have in 2019 due to its soft design, bright colours and resistant material. With the functionality and sleek, attractive character of this bag in mind, Muller Van Severen set to work to create a series of designer seating furniture. The sofa resembles several Pillow bags that have been puzzled together, in order to arrive at a soft yet powerful design. The Pillow Sofa consists of modular seating furniture that stand alone or can be linked together. Talk about multifunctionality!
Muller Van Severen, the design studio of Hannes Van Severen and Fien Muller, is where art and design meet. Their unique pieces are handmade by skilled artists in small workshops with respect for the roughness, uniqueness and imperfections of the chosen material. Their quest to reinvent furniture has previously led them to various collaborations, including with the luxury label Hermès.
The Pillow Sofa by Muller Van Severen for KASSL Editions will be presented for the first time during the opening of Amsterdam Fashion Week on September 17 with a 'one night only' guerilla exhibition at Museum Voorlinden. From 18 September, it can be admired at Graanmarkt 13 in Antwerp, which is known for its selection of fashion and collectibles. You will also find design and fashion from Lemaire, Sofie D'Hoore, Santa Maria Novella, Lobmeyr and Susanne Kaufmann, among others. The sofa will also be on display in Milan at the Salone del Mobile design fair in 2021.
The Pillow Sofa is available from September 18 through Graanmarkt 13, Muller Van Severen, KASSL Editions and at selected retailers.
