Nine iconic Helmut Lang pieces are being reissued today, the third volume of a collaboration between the brand and vintage retail website Byronesque that brings back archival pieces from some of Lang’s most iconic collections.

For this release, a selection of all-black, bondage-inspired pieces influenced by the Austrian designer's famous last words when he left his eponymous brand in 2005: "It's dangerous to become overexposed."

Suffice to say we've embraced that danger. With the dawning of the social media age, there's no such thing as overexposure, given the general fascination with celebrity sex tapes, Instagram-creeping, and oversharing any chance we can. Paired with a similar intrigue with bondage and BDSM culture (see Fifty Shades of Grey and Jeremy Scott's latest collection for Moschino) and you have yourself a winning formula for a collection like this.

“Thirteen years later, we live in a culture of extreme overexposure,” said Justin Westover, the creative director of Byronesque in a press release. “To respect Helmut Lang's prophetic statement, we liked the idea of the brand going dark, in the truest sense of the phrase, where communication appears to have stopped but in reality has become private and restrained.”

Each edgy piece featured in the collection was originally released between 1994 and 2004, so in that same dark, sexy spirit, we decided to whip up an audio accompaniment to get you in the mood—for shopping, of course.

SPLIT HEM BONDAGE TANK, 1997
