Konstantin Grcic is the newest member of the Issey Miyake Watch Project team, as the German designer has collaborated with big names in design including Flos, Magis, Muji, and Vitra.
In addition to pure design, his work also focuses on researching the history of art, design, architecture, and his passion for technology and materials. His research is reconciled with function in human terms and formal aesthetic rigor, and, after receiving recognition of the Compasso d`Oro for some of his creations, Grcic has now designed Roku, the new Miyake watch.
"Roku is designed based on the correlation between two different geometries: the hexagon and the circle. The six sides of the hexagon refer to the 12 hours of the dial, while the circle symbolizss the circular movement of time. The circle is, in fact, the natural shape for a watch," explains Konstantin Grcic. "The two forms, in harmony with each other, still manage to maintain a certain tension. Like the notion of time: on one hand, the inexorable flow of time, on the other - the cadence of events."
