After a surprise announcement that select pieces from his first collection for Burberry would be available exclusively through Instagram and WeChat through 24-hour drops, head designer Riccardo Tisci has released the highly anticipated first piece—a monogrammed t-shirt. Called the "Thomas Burberry Monogram", the minimalistic interlocking "T" and "B" design are an homage to the British label's original founder.
The collection, called "Drop Zero", is the Italian designer's first collection at the helm of the luxury label. The selected pieces are available exclusively through the shopping-enabled social media platforms, but will be stocked in-store and Burberry online stores when the full Spring 2019 runway collection is released. Unexpectedly utilizing a "drop" release method most commonly associated with streetwear labels, Tisci's decision marks an interesting deviation from the norm for the legacied British fashion house.
