Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, has already become an award-winning songwriter at the age of seven. The girl has just taken home the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award, announced at the Soul Train Awards, for working together with her mother on the song Brown Skin Girl.

The song Brown Skin Girl is part of the album The Lion King: The Gift, released in 2019, which was made alongside the live-action adaptation of The Lion King. In the film, Beyoncé played the part of Nala and even wrote a song for the film, which instantly became a hit.

The inspirational hit composed by Beyoncé and her daughter states: "Black girl, your skin is like pearls / The best thing in the world / I would never trade you for anyone else." Released in July 2019, the song quickly climbed the Billboard's Top 100 songs chart.

However, this is not Blue's first time working on music. In 2017, she collaborated with Jay-Z on a bonus track for his album 4:44, called Blue's Freestyle / We Family.
