Zoë Kravitz Will Play Catwoman in Batman’s New Remake

The actress will be the second black woman to play the role.

Zoë Kravitz has been confirmed for the role of Catwoman in the upcoming Batman movie. The Big Little Lies star will play Selina Kylie, and her alter ego, following the footsteps of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

It was rumoured that several Hollywood actresses were considered for the role, including Lupita Nyong'o, Tessa Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alexandra Shipp, Logan Browning and Vanessa Kirby of The Crown.



The 30-year-old actress underwent a rigorous testing process, where she competed against Ana Arias, Ella Balinska, and Eiza González. After auditioning alongside Robert Pattinson (who has been confirmed as Batman), she has secured the role, according to The Guardian. Jonah Hill and Jeffrey Wright will also be joining the cast.

Matt Reeves has been appointed as the director of the Batman's new version for Warner Bros., known for directing Cloverfield and Monkey Planet Dawn.

Zoë Isabella Kravitz is an American actress, model and singer, and the daughter of singer Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet. She began her acting career in 2007 and has starred in films such as The Brave One (2007) with Jodie Foster, No Reservations (2007), with Catherine Zeta-Jones and X-Men: First Class (2011).

Her most recent project is HBO's hit series Big Little Lies, based on the book of the same name by author Liane Moriarty. Zoë was cast for Fantastic Beasts 2 and played the character Leta Lestrange.
