If he loved Mallarme, Karl Lagerfeld also loved Debussy. The climax of the Prelude to the Afternoon of a fauna will have bathed the Grand Palais of symbolic sounds, while 2500 guests responded to the joint invitation of Chanel, Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld to pay tribute to the creator left on 19th of February. The flagship where he gave so many parades, chartered a rocket, a liner, organized a demonstration, recreated a supermarket or, more recently, brought the beach to Paris, remained yesterday a scene. The English violinist Charlie Siem played Paganini while Helen Mirren was reading. A nod to Karl Lagerfeld dancer, author of a memorable pas de deux on the Paseo del Prado in Cuba in 2016, the troupe and the orchestra of German Cornejo launched into a furious tango. Who will have seen, also, Pharrell Williams sing, Fanny Ardant, Tilda Swinton and Cara Delevingne declaiming some lines of English or French literatures, from Edith Sitwell to Colette ... The man with 300 000 books would have probably preferred, to -mourned time, the eternal life of art. Through the photographs, the films, for some cities last night at the tempo of the director Robert Carsen, everyone finds that what he has created is still alive.
