The opening of the Geneva Watch Days took place on August 26th in Geneva, the only collective event of the year for the watchmaking universe. Participating in the four-day event were 17 leading brands, the corresponding CEOs, and exponents of international watchmaking.
Among the novelties of this year, Bvlgari reintroduces the Bvlgari Aluminum 2020 model, a famous timeless model presented for the first time in 1998. The new version of the watch is destined to become a milestone in watchmaking by being a true classic that goes beyond gender, age, trends, and personal style. A model that incorporates unconventional materials that reinvent the codes of contemporary luxury with perfect execution, elegance, and audacity.
"True masterpieces impose themselves on the public from the moment of their birth and never die," explained Antoine Pin Managing Director of the Bvlgari Watches department. "Bvlgari Aluminum is a design masterpiece and a milestone in the history of watchmaking for its unique style and combination of industrial materials. After many years being dedicated to growing the Octo collection, bringing Bvlgari Aluminum back into the spotlight is an immense source of pride and satisfaction for us."
For Bvlgari, limits are imposed to be transgressed and even conventions exist only to be questioned. This is the true approach of the brand, the new Bvlgari Aluminum design has been modified to improve comfort on the wrist thanks to the reshaped lugs that adapt to the new case dimensions. The unreleased 2020 models no longer feature a quartz movement, but are instead equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement. A perfect match between aluminum and rubber that immediately returns Bvlgari's Italian sporting sensibility, the central focus of the new unisex edition.
Bvlgari also unveiled two other new versions: Octo Finissimo Automatic and Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic. The first is an example that boasts the excellence and craftsmanship of Made in Italy with the thinnest automatic movement in the world made possible by a slight increase in the case to 6.4 mm and the addition of a screw-down crown. Since its first debut in 2014, Octo Finissimo has redefined the concept of style, an aesthetic combination with a technical savoir-faire represented by each of the six world record watches, achieving today the status of modern watchmaking icon.
“We are taking these record-breaking watches from being a Supercar to being a Gran Turismo, an extraordinary machine that can be driven every day. Compared to the extremes of the sports car, it is more like an all-wheel drive, as it boasts a water resistance of up to 100 meters, you have a screw-down crown, you can dive, swim, take a shower; it is the ideal watch to dress at the top or in a more casual way, adapting perfectly to all situations from the tennis court to the meeting room," said Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari.
Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic is the latest timepiece in the collection, a model that features an ultra-thin mechanically manufactured skeletonized movement equipped with automatic winding, single-button chronograph and tourbillon. All this in a thickness of 7.40. “With the new ultra-thin Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic watch, 2020 becomes the year of world records for Bvlgari. This is the sixth consecutive record for Octo Finissimo," Jean-Christophe Babin proudly explained. In the panorama of luxury watches, the brand has always carved out a niche of excellence with elegant and super-performing creations, the Octo saga is the prime example for the Maison.
