Dior's Artsy Men's Winter 2019 Campaign Is Set In A Raymond Pettibon-inspired Studio

The Maison unveils an artistic campaign featuring a collaboration with American artist Raymond Pettibon.

Dior pays homage to Christian Dior's artsy roots as a gallerist and art collector, setting their men's Winter 2019 campaign in an art gallery inspired by American Artist Raymond Pettibon's studio. 

Shot by Steven Meisel, the campaign showcases Kim Jones's new collection, which includes notable utilitarian details- such as harnesses, vests and buckles designed by Matthew Williams, and also, collaborations with Pettibon, of whom Jones is also a fan of his work. 

The artist, who was a significant figure in California's 1970s punk scene, referenced Jones's love for flora and fauna along with a panther print that first appeared in the Maison's first collection back in 1947, - culminating in a unique print that can be found on the latest collection's coats.  

Furthermore, Pettibon also reinterpreted the Dior logo, transforming it with a brushstroke-like font. The logo was also seen in a series of edgy, punk style jewellery by Dior's newly appointed men's jewellery designer Yoon Ahn.

This season, fans will also spot a bag that's reminiscent of Dior's famous saddlebag - a backpack with cannage motifs featuring a pocket that takes on the well-known, familiar curves of the Maison's saddlebag. The iconic design is also seen in the nylon cross-body rendition of the bag.
