From the 1st to the 3rd of February Gstaad is the venue of the third edition of the festival "ELEVATION 1049"
For the opening weekend, founders and curators Neville Wakefield and Olympia Scarry devised a rich performance program, followed by Doug Aitken's presentation of the Mirage Gstaad open-air installation.
After "Between Heaven and Hell" (2014) and "Avalanche" (2017), now brings together the third edition of the event named "ELEVATION1049" (at this height is Gstaad), twelve artists dealing with this year's topic "Frequences". Nina Beier, Suzanne Ciani, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Zhana Ivanova, Marie Kalberg, Liz Magic Laser, Cori Kresge, Hanna Novak, Isabel Lewis, Naama Tsabar and Marianne Vitale were inspired and cartography audiences from the world of performance art. Doug Aitken's all-mirrored cabin, on the other hand, reflects surroundings countless times, prompting the audience to discover the landscape as if it were the first time. This exhibition, supported by Maja Hoffmann, encouraged viewers to put down their skis and snowboards for once and discover works as intriguing as they are fascinating.
And another gift, this time from the gallery owner Victoria de Pourtalès and L'OFFICIEL Art: a climb to the iconic Château de Rougemont, where guests danced until the wee hours around a big fire.
The work of Doug Altken is publicly accessible until January 2021.
