Jessica Biel was a significant force behind her husband Justin Timberlake's public statement last week when he apologized for photos that came out of him holding hands with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright. She pressured him to publish the request because no, she wasn't absolutely fine with the scandal, although their marriage could survive.
"Jessica encouraged Justin to make a statement on Instagram because she felt embarrassed by his actions and wanted him to take responsibility," a source close to the couple said.
One source explained that "Jessica was very upset and ashamed of Justin's behavior. [But] they are still united, very close and strong." Wainwright's representative denied that there was an affair between her and Timberlake when the photos were published. Timberlake, in his Instagram statement last week, reiterated this.
In the apology he wrote:
"I stay away from gossips as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it's important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love.
A few weeks ago, I demonstrated a strong lapse of judgment - but let me clarify - nothing happened between me and my castmate. I drank too much that night and regret my behavior. I should know how to handle it better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them in such an awkward situation and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. I am incredibly proud to work in Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it. "
