When Beyoncé came to a basketball game dressed in an eccentric outfit with crescent moon prints - perfectly coordinated with the Houston Rockets' team colors - a trend was about to emerge.
Thanks to the Instagram account of a Zerina Akers - who is Queen B's stylist - we were able to understand everything. Behind the pieces that covered the popstar was Marine Serre who is a french fashion designer. It may be the first time you've heard of Marine Serre, but we are sure it won't be the last.
Born and raised in France, Serre is known for creating futurewear - a design philosophy description through environmental awareness, futurism and, of course, all those prints in everyday pieces. She also attributes Islamic symbols - like the crescent moon, which has been a recurring motif in her collections - an influence in her work. Despite launching her brand at Paris Fashion Week only recently, Serre is by no means a newcomer.
Winner of the 2017 LVMH Award for young fashion designers, she developed her talent while interning and working for fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen, Dior, Maison Margiela and Balenciaga over the years. Even the late Karl Lagerfeld gave Serre a message in an interview in 2018, describing her as a "steel will." Throughout the process, the designer has gained a team of celebrity followers, which you can see below!
