Couture lace lingerie, silk kimono, chiffon dress brief ... Carine Gilson has been dictating trends for 30 years now and making luxurious lingerie just as delicately as a goldsmith. To celebrate the anniversary of the Belgian designer's house, a dazzling exhibition will take place from July 10, 2019 to April 19, 2020 in the Fashion & Lace Museum in Brussels. Carine Gilson will not only unveil her couture skills and inspirations, from the Garden of Eden to Japanese kimonos, including Art Nouveau or works of famous painters, but also her encounters and collaborations.
Called "Beautiful Lace & Carine Gilson", the exhibition intends to take us to a dreamlike world of sensuality, preciousness and virtuosity. About fifty creations of Maison Carine Gilson will trace her career and enter into a dialogue with major pieces of the Museum's lace collection. A silk satin kimono and a lace-embellished underpants from the 2018-2019 autumn-winter collection, a traditional kimono from the 2011-2012 autumn-winter collection, or evening silhouettes will be exhibited to be examined more closely. Photographs of different pieces of lingerie will also be exhibited, in order to "give back to these 'still lives' the movement and fluidity of the silk, while highlighting the details of transparency and openwork of lace, with an almost X-ray." Finally, the event is also an opportunity to discover the key pieces that inspired Carine Gilson, like a folded fan from 1900.
Exhibition "Beautiful Lace & Carine Gilson", from Wednesday, July 10, 2019 to Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the Fashion & Lace Museum, Rue de la Violette 12, 1000 Brussels.
