"He's the Nelson Mandela of couture," comments musician will.i.am in the documentary.
There aren't a lot of people out there who have as much authority in the fashion industry as André Leon Talley. The former American Vogue editor-at-large made his way from North Carolina to making his first step in the industry at Andy Warhol's factory and at Interview Magazine in the '70s. Now, the 68-year-old fashion figure has been honored with a documentary directed by Kate Novack, the mastermind behind Page One: Inside the New York Times.
The Gospel According to André is set to release on May 25 to the public, though it premiered last year at the Toronto Film Festival. Watch the trailer featuring exclusive interviews with Tom Ford, Anna Wintour, Diane Von Furstenberg, and raw footages of young Talley dominating the fashion scene in the '80s.
