After Project Runway, one of the most popular TV shows about fashion, Netflix now unveils Next in Fashion. The concept: eighteen candidates compete with each other in various tests of clothing design, from sketching to a real fashion show, including getting started with needle and thread. One winner has a chance to win the main prize of $250,000 and the opportunity to release a collection on the luxury webshop Net-a-Porter. Socialite Alexa Chung and Queer Eye's fashion expert Tan France are the hosts of the show, while the jury probably consists of the crème de la crème of fashion.
In the trailer we get a glimpse on Tommy Hilfiger, Christopher Kane, Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung, Kerby Jean-Raymond, the founder of the Pyer Moss brand that is one of the most anticipated young labels during New York. Fashion Week was, Eva Chen, head of Instagram's fashion partnerships, and last but not least Elizabeth Stewart, well-known fashion editor and celebrity stylist. Names that could make a difference and undoubtedly boost the credibility of the show.
Candidates were recruited on the basis of one criterion: among the best in the world. Some candidates have already taken a nice course in fashion, for example, have worked with top brands such as Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney or Roccawear.
