Shaped by the spirit of rebellion. By advanced aerodynamics. The unblinking pursuit of speed, handling prowess and driver engagement. Extreme from every angle. In every facet. Organically formed but equally defined by technology and track focused details. A rule-breaking Longtail to the core.
“The stretched silhouette that enhances aerodynamic performance and the honed physique that improves downforce and cooling – especially on track – immediately identify the new 765LT Spider as a car that will deliver on the promise of the purest driving thrills” - Rob Melville, Design Director.
AERO, AT THE LEADING EDGE
The bespoke carbon fibre body panels, rear bodywork mesh and glazing look breathtaking. Their functional performance is equally impressive. They comprise 20kg of the overall 80kg weight saving. And deliver 25% more downforce. The new Longtail active rear wing is 20% larger than the 720S Spider’s. With a revised profile to maximise downforce in corners, and reduce stopping distances. Our incredible engineers also created the bespoke carbon fibre front floor, which increases front downforce and maintains it during high-speed braking. Like the 765LT Coupe, the Spider has an unmistakable LT front splitter, side skirts, and enlarged lower side air intakes – all dedicated to managing air flow and cooling. Combined with the lowered suspension and widened front track, the advanced aerodynamics deliver an intensity of driver engagement that has become a Longtail trademark.
The fastest, lightest LT Spider yet pushes the limits of technology and design with its one-piece carbon fibre Retractable Hard Top (RHT). Powered by eight e-motors, the system is almost silent in operation. And opens in just 11 seconds at speeds of up to 50km/h. Once closed, the RHT gives the 765LT Spider a complete, unified carbon fibre upper structure. So there’s no need for a conventional central seal running across the panel. And passenger space is enhanced. Made from a single carbon fibre frame, the design pushes length to the absolute maximum. So the sense of openness to the elements is magnified – the RHT’s masterstroke. Now the Longtail experience is even more physical and intense than ever. You sense the air rushing over and around you. And absorb the incredible sound of the quad-exit, high mounted titanium exhaust. Unleashing the voice of the McLaren designed 765PS 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8. Nothing takes you closer to the wild spirit of LT.
PURE INTOXICATION. TOTAL ENGAGEMENT. 100% LONGTAIL.
The 765LT Spider is alive with driver focused engineering and technology. The mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and ruthless weight reduction deliver unfiltered responses. A dynamic balance that thrills. Stiffer engine mounts and minimal sound deadening allow the noise and feel of the powertrain to fill the cockpit. Electro-hydraulic steering – with ultra-quick steering ratio and stiffer torsion bar – magnifies responsiveness. Bespoke Pirelli P Zero™ Trofeo R tyres take cornering speeds to new heights. A revised brake booster and unique pad material make pedal feel and stopping power simply incredible.
And now, there is an added dimension to the all-encompassing engagement. Open the fully electric Retractable Hard Top and you magnify the intensity of the Longtail experience. As the elements rush in and the unconstrained force of the glorious quad-exit titanium exhaust note floods the cabin. You can even savour these extremes with the roof closed, by dropping the electrically operated rear window.
THE SPEED OF LIGHTNESS
The pursuit of lightness is the pursuit of greatness. The 765LT Spider is defined by ruthless, exhaustive weight saving. Like every Longtail before it. The results are felt on every straight. In every corner. The figures speak volumes. This car is 80kg lighter than the lithe, 720S Spider. And has a class-leading power-to-weight ratio.
TORRENTIAL, ACCESSIBLE POWER. THE 765LT SPIDER’S BEATING HEART.
The most powerful McLaren LT Spider to date produces 765PS and 800NM of torque from its re-engineered McLaren designed 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8. But this is far more than brute force. It’s finessed and accessible for maximum results. Optimised gear ratios - include a final drive built from F1-grade materials – generate extreme acceleration. 0 – 100km/h [62mph] in 2.8 seconds and 0 – 200km/h [124mph] in a jaw dropping 7.2 seconds.
