Following the great success of the Manufacture Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar that was unveiled for the 30th anniversary of the brand, Frédérique Constant is launching a new exclusive limited series, published with 88 copies in stainless steel and 30 copies in 18 carat pink gold, which were specially created to celebrate the opening of the new Frédérique Constant factory building, located in the watchmaking center of Plan-les-Ouates in Geneva, Switzerland. This exquisite timepiece features a navy blue skeleton dial, allows to admire its complex mechanism.
Just like the visionary ambition of Frédérique Constant's founder
The Tourbillon Manufacture Quantième Perpétuel watch embodies the visionary ambition of the brand's founder: to democratize Swiss horological knowledge and innovation.
In 2004, after several years of research and development, Frédérique Constant presented its first patented manufacturing movement: the award-winning Heart Beat Manufacture caliber. Four years later, the brand unveiled its first tourbillon manufacture, one of the most elaborate complications of the watch industry, inspired by the Heart Beat Manufacture caliber. Then, in 2016, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Frédérique Constant factory in Plan-les-Ouates, another great complication was born: the Manufacture Quantième Perpétuel model. Paving the way for a new generation of Swiss made complication-compliant timepieces, it has become a symbol of the brand's watchmaking expertise and talent.
A high level of precision and complexity
This Tourbillon Manufacture Quantième Perpétuel watch is animated by the automatic movement FC-975, designed for unparalleled precision. Completely built at the Frédérique Constant Manufacture, it is equipped with an anchor and a silicon escapement wheel, a material that offsets the effects of gravity when the movement is in a vertical position and is resistant to changes in temperature.
This great complication is also equipped with weight balance and a delicate and harmonious tourbillon cage. The patented tourbillon cage is perfectly balanced. It consists of 80 components, all manufactured in the workshops of the manufactury with a CNC machine ensuring a precision ranging from 1 to 2 microns (0.001 to 0.002 mm). To achieve this extreme degree of precision, tiny weights were added to the tourbillon cage to achieve perfect balance. During the manufacture of the tourbillon, the cage is slightly unbalanced because the wheel and the exhaust anchor are eccentric. Frédérique Constant added a system of Smart Screws on the circumference of the tourbillon to compensate for the difference in weight and ensure the perfect balance of the cage. The amplitude and the running of the watch are thus improved.
A Perpetual Calendar without manual adjustment up until 400 years
Displaying the day, the date and the month, the perpetual calendar requires a setting even more spaced than the annual calendar. This extremely sophisticated complication not only calculates the number of days in each month, but also the year, which allows it to automatically adjust in leap years. Once configured, it will take into account the months at 30 and 31 days, the 28 days of February, but also the cycle of leap years and the display of February 29 every four years. The perpetual calendar should not require any manual adjustment up until 400 years. The only exception due to the Gregorian calendar, the watch must be set on March 1, 2100. The hours and minutes are adjustable by means of the crown. The dial displays at 12 o'clock the months as well as the leap year, the date at 3 o'clock and the days of the week at 9 o'clock.
A classic box for a limited edition available in two versions
Offered in polished stainless steel and 18-carat pink gold, this Tourbillon Manufacture Quantième Perpétuel features an elegant and polished 42 mm diameter case. On the reverse side, it has a transparent back revealing the movement FC-975 with its beaded finishes and Côtes de Genève.
Front side, it reveals a silver skeleton dial whose distinctive aesthetic allows to admire at leisure the different components elegantly beaded by hand. Equipped with counters and a navy blue surround, it reveals an opening at 6 o'clock highlighting the great care given to the tourbillon cage. Besides its aesthetics contributing to the charm of this time keeper, it is accompanied by a needle whose revolution per minute indicates the seconds. Watch enthusiasts will appreciate. . .
Each cage is individually numbered at the upper platen located at its center, a number corresponding to the limited serial number indicated on the case. Notice to collectors! The stainless steel version of the Tourbillon Manufacture Perpetual Calendar Frédérique Constant was published in 88 numbered copies. Meanwhile, 30 copies of the model in 18-carat pink gold were made, referring to the 30 years of existence of the House.
Dressed in a navy blue alligator leather strap, this new Frédérique Constant timepiece is presented in a luxurious wooden gift box.
The Frédérique Constant collections embody the commitment to design, manufacture and assemble all the movements within its manufacture to guarantee an excellent quality / price ratio. The Tourbillon Manufacture Quantième Perpétuel watch perfectly embodies this commitment and remains faithful to the brand's motto: to democratize the pleasure of luxury.
