The famous book list of Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world, has been finally revealed and the new selection includes some great recommendations for passing time at home.

"Currently, most of my conversations and meetings are about Covid-19 and how we can turn the tide. But they also often ask me what I'm reading and watching - people want to learn more about pandemics or maybe they are simply looking for a distraction," said Gates on his website.

Good Economics for Hard Times

A good read on how the economy can be accessible to people who are not specialised in the subject. The economical analyses of Professors Esther Duflo and Abhijit V. Banerjee of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have been highly praised, and Gates highlights the book's approach to "political inequalities and divisions, in policy debates that are at the forefront in rich countries like the USA."

The Ride of A Lifetime

Considered one of the best business books, Robert Iger explains how he took control of Disney, replacing Michael Eisner. In the book, Iger tells what he likes in the business world and how he went through periods of change and challenges with Disney.

The Great Flu

Following the events of Covid-19, Gates included in the list this book about the Spanish flu epidemic in 1918. In the book, the author discusses aspects of the outbreak, and how the disease spread from the United States to Europe, in a context of war.

The Auschwitz Ballerina

The book tells a real story of a ballerina who was sent, along with her family, to a concentration camp in Auschwitz by the German army. After having survived the trauma, she moved to the United States and became a therapist, helping others in treatment.

It is a novel that tells six different stories that take place over several centuries, but all have one thing in common: they are connected through time. According to Gates, "It is the kind of romance that you will think and talk about for a long time after finishing."
