When Michael Kors was five years old and redesigned his mother's wedding dress, he never imagined that his talent, and entrepreneurial vision, would one day allow him to lead a luxury sportswear firm with several outstanding contributions to fashion. Forty years later, the designer celebrated his anniversary with a tour of those garments that made the trip special and a show in New York City, where models such as Bella Hadid, Ashley Graham, Naomi Campbell and Vittoria Ceretti walked.

Like true time capsules, the brand presented during the anniversary show the relaunch of fifteen garments created between 1989-2000 , whose charm and sophisticated character can now be part of your wardrobe. Each one of them comes with a QR code that reveals the story behind its manufacture and the model that wore it at the time; opening a bridge of connection between the way we dressed in the nineties and how we do it now.

From Gisele's silver dress to Cindy Crawford's white kimono, these are the pieces chosen by L'Officiel.

The absolute inspiration for this warm garment was the style of Audrey Hepburn during the sixties. For the new version, Bella Hadid was the modern muse who wore this bright red garment, proving that it is still as versatile as it was in 1991. "A coat is like your business card," explains Michael Kors. "You can put on a fabulous coat and what's underneath is instantly transformed."

The wraparound silhouette of this kimono is timeless: the plunging neckline, the leg hem and the hand-embroidered fabric with thousands of sequins give a kaleidoscopic illusion ideal for an evening event. "Everybody looks great in white," says Michael. "It has no season."

Let's place ourselves in the year 2000, Gisele Bündchen was the queen of modeling and closed all the shows. For that year's fall / winter show, the Brazilian model put the finishing touch to the designer's runway by wearing a silver dress with a high fur collar. For the anniversary collection, the silhouette was made more fluid, without the fur collar and with a smoky gray coat, making the outfit even more elegant.

The designer presented a new version of the three-piece suit from the spring / summer 1989 collection worn by Marie-Sophie Wilson. "The mixture of something timeless and something unexpected is a hallmark of the American style," says Michael. Now more than ever, masculine and feminine intertwine, and this look confirms that Kors already knew this for a long time.
