Travellers can enjoy the most wonderful time of the year away from crowded places and the clamour of the city, with family-friendly activities across the festive period, before ringing in the New Year with the most spectacular gala on the island. Complete with live music, Lindy Hop dancing, champagne raffle draw, special prizes, an array of mixed drinks and bubbly galore, the special themed event will be topped off with an End of Year Countdown Party to a fireworks display that’s set to ring in the New Year with a BANG!
In the leadup to New Year’s Eve and throughout the festive season, guests can partake in family fun, including a tree lighting ceremony, gingerbread house decorating competition, a fruit carving demonstration, volleyball matches, a crab race, coconut tree climbing, festive walking parade and much more – with a fresh schedule of activities taking place every day from 22 to 31 December. There will also be games including song association, a Kahoot quiz and more.
24 December calls for merry cocktails and a festive beach dinner overlooking the ever-blue lagoon and accompanied by live music, whilst Friday will see Santa Claus’ BBQ Island and carollers fill visitors with festive delight on 25 December.
Easing into New Year’s Eve celebrations, 26 December delivers with a Maldivian Fish Market evening accompanied by cultural performances, whereas 27 December is all about balance with a yoga session at Shine spa in the morning, followed by a dance competition and live band in the evening. A Maldivian cooking class and toddy climbing – a local conservation initiative – are the order of the day on 28 December, with 29 December calling for a festive parade. The last quiz of the year then takes place on 30 December.
